As Rush Limbaugh and others have stated today, Democrats and others should be relieved that our duly elected president was declared innocent of colluding with Russians, a claim that was promoted often during the past two years. But as White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said on the front lawn of the White House, the investigation should never have taken place.
Will Democrats and the liberal media stop talking about Trump and his supposed misdeeds? Probably not. Because hope, or delusion, for Democrats and the liberal media in this case springs eternal. Instead of being elated that an official was declared innocent, they are continuing to claim something similar, as though if they were given $25 million, two years and the same evidence, they would be able to find President Donald Trump guilty.
The truth is that this charade says much more about what Democrats do and don’t have: they don’t have a plan to overcome, or destroy, all of the good things that Trump has done - how he has boosted the economy, how he had driven down unemployment figures, how he has negotiated with foreign officials, dignitaries, even communists in ways that former Pres. Obama and former Sec. of State Hillary Clinton can only drool over.
And yet. And yet. Hope that they will find something when Robert Mueller could not will not stop for them, for the simple reason that it’s all they have. They can’t handle international negotiations as Trump has. (They can’t negotiate at all).
They tried to take down Trump before the election in 2016. They tried for the past two years. Trump did not collude with the Russians. There is nothing more to it. But it won’t stop them.
Here is Sarah Sanders unequivocal and accurate response to the Mueller probe into Russian collusion and Pres. Trump on the front lawn of the White House, Monday morning:
She labeled the Mueller probe a two-year absurdity, and that there was a complete and total exoneration.
“I don’t know any other way to look at it when the whole purpose of this investigation was to determine whether or not there was collusion. And there wasn’t. It was incredibly clear in the report that there was no collusion. . . . no one on his team. That’s a great thing for our country. And it’s a great thing for this administration.”
Did Mueller do a good job?
“I think he did a good job by finishing. I think it’s disgraceful that it took two years. I think it’s disgraceful that we had $25 million in taxpayer money to chase a witch hunt that never should have taken place in the first place. I think Democrats and the liberal media should be absolutely embarrassed by their behavior over the last two years in their breathless reporting, in their hope . . . It’s not that they reported and spread a slanderous and malicious lie. But they hoped for a take down of the president of the United States. I think everybody in America should sit back and process that for just a second and realize the seriousness of the accusation that was put on this president, that the media perpetuated, that they celebrated and that they loved to report.”
Sanders said a total of 8,500 articles were written or broadcast about Russian collusion and the president from four outlets since May 2017, including the Washington Post, the New York Times, MSNBC, and CNN.
“That is outrageous, (because) it’s something that we found out to be a complete and utter lie,” she said.
Sanders said the investigation should never have taken place, that a special counsel should never have investigated the president.
Who should be held accountable for the errant investigation?
“Any of the people who were involved in attempting to take down the president. The fact that they spent two years trying to delegitimize the president’s victory in 2016 is disgusting. And there are a lot of people that should answer questions. If congress is so gung ho about calling people up to the hill, the list I would start with are (James) Comey, (James) Clapper, (John) Brennan and other people in the FBI who perpetuated this absurd lie and this absurd idea that the president of the United States was somehow a foreign agent and colluding with another government. Let’s not forget that all of this interference in the election took place under the Obama administration. They knew about it and they did nothing to stop it. I think that’s where they should start.”
Trump fired Comey from his position as director of the FBI soon after he was sworn into office in 2017. Since his firing Comey has consistently criticized Trump and claimed that he was not capable as a commander and chief. Clapper was the former National Intelligence Director and John Brennan was CIA director under Pres. Obama. Both Clapper and Brennan also repeatedly criticized the president and continued to promote the idea that the president had colluded with Russians or was not really fit to be president.
