Chicago Mayor Rahm “Dead fish” Emanuel is looking for a novel way to clean up the dead body stench on the streets of Chicago as the body count continues to rise. Problem is, Emanuel and other Democrats are better at sending dead fish, not solving problems in inner cities.
Because of laws passed by liberals like Emanuel, people, including criminals, are not supposed own guns. That was the whole purpose behind passing an onerous gun law that outlawed gun ownership in the City of Chicago. But like many liberal ideas, it was a failure. It only made it easier for criminals to commit crimes, and harder for law abiding citizens, including those in crime ridden areas, to protect themselves.
Brutal gun violence has become an epidemic in Chicago, with nearly identical shooting and murder numbers in August of 2017 and 2018. In 2018, 58 people were shot, four were killed by gun shots. In the previous year, 48 people shot, five people killed.
According to the FBI, the City of Chicago saw nearly a 57 percent increase in murders from 2015 to 2016. In recent years, the city has seen a decrease in violent crime. But gun violence has not gone away. And the problem is still lying at the feet of the mayor. This has prompted him to make a public display of the issue, gathering people around him to save him from this crisis.
Here is Emmanuel’s official response to the gun violence, from a press conference this year:
“Our kids need that moral structure in their life,” he said at a press conference with crowd of required people surrounding him. “Helping to develop and nurture character. Self respect. A value system and a moral compass that allows kids to know good from bad and right from wrong.”
We know it’s getting serious when a Democrat talks about things like moral structure, character, self respect, and a value system that knows the difference between right and wrong. He’s the perfect role model, if you think Tony Soprano played an angel on TV, and the Godfather would make a great choirboy.
Emmanuel is famous for sending a Godfather dead fish, to an opponent, veteran Democratic pollster Alan Secrest, complete with a card that read, “It’s been awful working with you.”
But Emanuel is notorious for other things, like using profanity to express anger, a characteristic that he was known for in Washington, D.C. while serving as Pres. Obama’s chief of staff. The press covering Emanuel thought it was cute. There is even an article about how Emanuel gave profanity (read f-word) lessons to a Second City comedian who wanted to portray him.
But that was then, when he was not faced with mother’s and community members complaining about their kids getting shot to death. The problem is that character usually starts in the family, with a mother and father providing support. Democrats like Emanuel can’t decide who should parent children growing up, a father, a mother, or any combination of the two.
In that regard, it’s like the king holding a banquet where there is lots of food, drink and profanity all around. Then the king sees a hand writing something on a wall. In this case, Mayor Emanuel has been found wanting. The people who are paying the price for his lack of character are the mothers and fathers and relatives who are losing their young people to gun violence.
