FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Jan. 5, 2018
Hundreds of members of the liberal mainstream media, including those representing NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, Huffington Post, New York Times, have decided to choose a hostage negotiator to help free them from Pres. Trump.
One reporter for NBC, William Arkin, said, in a resignation letter, that its network and others like it have effectively become hostages, prisoners of Pres. Trump.
Although he did not mention Trump Derangement Syndrome, it is generally believed that many liberals are generally obsessed with whatever Trump says or tweets, and effectively have allowed him to “live inside their heads.”
Arkin described how the media responds to covering the president as a kind of “Trump circus,”
He said that media coverage of Trump would “mechanically argue the contrary” even though what Trump was doing made sense.
Examples of mechanically negative coverage include dismissing Trump’s negotiation with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, and criticizing him for pulling troops out of Syria.
Members of the mainstream media generally react to Trump’s tweets, which are numerous.
Former executive editor Jill Abramson, said reporters and editors at the New York Times suffered from an epidemic of Trump Derangement Syndrome.
Abramson admitted to carrying an Obama doll in her purse to “comfort” her “wounded soul” in Trump’s America.
But it’s not just members of the news media who suffer from an irrational reaction to Trump, it’s intellectuals as well.
One professor and writer, Ernesto Semán, argued that Trump was worse than Argentinian dictator Juan Perón. Perón was known for suppressing freedom of expression by shutting down the major newspaper La Prensa.
An Argentinian junta called the National Reorganization Process, was responsible for the murder or disappearance of an estimated 30,000 people. Another group, Triple A, was responsible for the death os an estimated 12,000 Argentinians. Both of the groups acted after Perón’s death in 1974.
Trump is known for calling some major media outlets, like CNN, the “enemy of the people,” and has even said that some people have Trump Derangement Syndrome.
"Some people HATE the fact that I got along well with President Putin of Russia," he tweeted. "They would rather go to war than see this. It's called Trump Derangement Syndrome!”
Some clinicians argue that Trump Derangement Syndrome should be included in DSM-6 (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual - version 6). It is published by the American Psychiatric Association.
The DSM defines a mental disorder as a “syndrome characterized by clinically significant disturbance in an individual's cognition, emotion regulation, or behavior…mental disorders are usually associated with significant distress in social, occupational, or other important activities’.
By that definition, most members of the mainstream media could be diagnosed with the TDS mental disorder.
